You’re falling
And falling
And falling
And falling
The air brushes past you
It whips your long hair around you face
Or maybe you have short hair, in which case
The wind pulls at it and stretches your skin
Your clothes flap against your body
Your arms look for something to hold
The black tarmac slowly approaches
You brace yourself for the impact
Blood is rushing through your veins
It throbs in your head
You panic as you fall
And fall
And fall
And fall
You see the yellow stripes along the road
The orange cones set around a wreck
Three
Two
One
Impact
You jolt awake in your bed
Your hand grasps at your heaving chest
You swear that you felt it when you hit the ground
But the pain had lasted but a moment, or was it ever there?
You look around the familiar surroundings of the room you grew up in
You realize that you aren't falling
And falling
And falling
And falling
